Trine Pernille Larsen (MA in Public Administration, University of Aalborg and MA in International Relations and European Studies, University of Kent, Canterbury, UK) has been employed at FAOS since September 2005. She was previously employed as a research assistant at the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK from 2002-2005.

Research Areas
Main interests: European labour market, long-term care and family policy as well as the interplay between EU and its member states, particularly in relation to the impact of the EU’s social dialogue and the Danish Collective Agreement module.

From 2002-2005 Trine P. Larsen has taken part in two international projects under the EU framework Five as well as a project by the British Department of Work and Pensions at the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK. The EU project ‘SOCCARE’ examined the ways European families reconcile work and family life in Portugal, Italy, Finland, France and the UK. The EU project ‘Welfare Reform and Management of Societal Change’ examined factors influencing policy direction in Europe, reforms under way in European welfare states (Switzerland, Finland, France, Germany, Sweden, Spain and the UK) and the best way to advance the European project in welfare. The project for the Department of Work and Pensions was an evaluation of the online learning module ‘Sickness Certification Made Easy’ which aims at promoting a better practice among general practitioners with respect to issuing sick notes. Furthermore, she started a PhD in 2003. The thesis examines social care policies for children and older people in Denmark, Germany and the UK and how policies enable working careers to reconcile work and family life.

Current research/Projects
As part of the FAOS research program 2004-2009 Trine is currently working on one of the main projects, which examines the development of the social dialogue in the enlarged EU and how the Danish labour market regulation is affected by the social dialogue as well as the European political and economic integration.
